Zapopan became for the first time the headquarters of the Extraordinary Assembly of the Mexican Federation of Public Human Rights Organizations (FMOPDH), where Presidents of all state human rights organizations in the country attended. In the assembly, which took place in the Municipal Palace, Mayor Juan José Frangie recognized the work of those present and called for unity to rise to the serious problem of disappearances that exists throughout the country.
“Thanks to the effort and resistance of thousands of people like you, human rights are on the political and social agendas. It is you who have raised your voice to point out systematic violations in order to raise awareness in a society that should not get used to the more than 100,000 disappeared people in our country, to violence against women.”
