The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, number 5 in the world, achieved this Saturday a place in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Umag, of which he is the current champion, by defeating Giulio Zeppieri (168th) after almost 3 hours of battle, 7-5 , 4-6, 6-3.
The 20-year-old Italian, coming from the previous ones, gave the Murcian prodigy more work than expected.
Alcaraz, 19, will thus contest his sixth final of the season, and his second in a row after Sunday’s loss to Lorenzo Musetti in Hamburg.
This year he has already won four titles (Rio, Miami, Barcelona and Madrid).
To try to add a fifth and keep his title in Umag, where last year he won the first title of his ATP career, he will have to win the final against the winner of the other semifinal, between the Italians Jannik Sinner (10th) and Franco Agamemnon (136th).
Whatever the result of the final, Alcaraz is already assured of being 4th in the world in the next ATP ranking on Monday.
