The Union of Merchants of the Mercado de Abastos de Guadalajara said that when the Jalisco avocado enters the export market to the United States supply and demand will level out and will allow for better price conditions.
According to Jalisco avocado growers, Eight thousand hectares are going to be incorporated into production and export, which will have an impact on the market.
“The orchards give everything, obviously various classes or qualities are selected and export requires a specific quality and standard and everything that does not meet that standard or surpluses will come to the national markets and will also stabilize the internal offer” , affirmed Francisco Javier Zaragoza Lovera, president of the Union of Merchants of the Guadalajara Food Market,
According to the leader of the tenants, currently the international market and the national market are supplied mainly from Michoacán and some other parts of the Republic, but now there will be more supply from Jalisco.
Currently, avocado is marketed from 89 to more than 100 pesos per kilo.
