New day of protests in downtown Buenos Aires (Franco Fafasuli)
Social organizations and piquetero groups will again march against the National Government demanding more plans and the implementation of the universal basic salary, among other demands. As Infobae advanced, they threaten to camp in the middle of the economic crisis. Consequently, a new day of traffic chaos is expected in downtown Buenos Aires as a result of the cuts that are scheduled for this Thursday.
Starting at 10 in the morning, the Piquetera Unit, on the one hand, and the organizations that make up the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP), on the other, will mobilize to demand that the administration of Alberto Fernández changes in social and economic policy.
The demonstrators will concentrate in central points of the City of Buenos Aires and then advance towards Plaza de Mayo, under the slogans of “genuine work, increase in the amounts and quotas of social plans, bags of food and economic assistance for unemployed families.” and retirees”, among others.
Silvia Saravia, national coordinator of the Barrios de Pie Movement, announced that it will be “a new day of struggle” and that at 9 o’clock they will give a conference at the Palace of Courts “against the criminalization of protest and the persecution of our organizations.”
Then they will gather on the one hand in front of the Ministry of Labor “to ask that the minimum vital and mobile salary reach the levels of the basic basket” and in the Ministry of Social Development “so that they deliver food and tools for the projects of promoting work Sarabia explained.
From there they will go to the Ministry of Economy to transfer the claim to Silvina Batakis, who is required to pay “a bonus of 20,000 pesos to retirees who earn the minimum, to those who have monotributo of categories A and B, and to those who charge the Empower Work”.
The protests take place in the midst of the deepening economic crisis and after the President announced a bonus of 11,000 pesos for the more than 1,300,000 beneficiaries of the Work Promotion. “The measure, although insufficient, is a first victory for the combative piquetero movement against the adjustment”, interpreted the leader of the Polo Obrero, Eduardo Belliboni.
From the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE) of Juan Grabois, they also celebrated the measure, as well as other organizations that in any case ratified the mobilization this Thursday. Grabois himself, Esteban “Gringo” Castro, Hugo Yasky, and Dina Sánchez, among other leaders who are part of the official UTEP, aligned with the Government, will also return to the streets to insist on the Universal Basic Salary.
They will gather from 10 in the morning at the Obelisco Porteño, where they will hold an assembly to resolve new measures. The day will be the third of a plan of struggle that began on July 13 with more than 450 assemblies throughout the country and continued on July 20 with rallies on the main routes of the country whose epicenter was the Pueyrredón Bridge in Avellaneda.
“We are going back to the streets across the country because we need the universal basic salary now. We cannot continue discussing homelessness. It’s now! ”, The deputy general secretary of Utep, Dina Sánchez, had expressed through her Twitter account.
“The fight for genuine work, the opening and universalization of social programs, the cessation of the causes and the judicial persecution against activists and fighters, the minimum wage at $105,000 and the defeat of the pact with the IMF will be present this July 28 in Plaza de Mayo and in the squares of the whole country”, announced the UP for its part.
