The new season of Zomergasten kicked off on Sunday evening with 526,000 viewers. This is evident from figures from Stichting KijkOnderzoek. This is a better start than the last two years, when the series’ first broadcast drew less than 400,000 people.
Zomergasten is in ninth place of the most watched programs on Sunday evening. Humberto Tan was a guest in the first episode. He said he feels less confident since he was forced to say goodbye to his talk show RTL Late Night in 2018.
“You always get a bruise from it,” he said. “I think I’m more careful now than I was then with a number of decisions I make. But it’s also good, it’s also cathartic. It’s not bad. I have less bravado.”
Interest in Zomergasten generally varies greatly. The broadcasts with Youp van ‘t Hek (2001, 1.3 million), Mies Bouwman (2002, 1.1 million) and Eberhard van der Laan (2017, 1.1 million) are the best viewed.
