Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard denied this Friday that the rallies held by Morena are anticipated campaign events and, therefore, that violate the electoral law.
“Going to a Morena event in a stadium, I don’t see why it’s an anticipated campaign act if you’re going on a non-working day”
“What I would say is, we are not campaigning now. The campaign times established by Mexican electoral legislation are the year 2024, for example, going to a Morena event in a stadium, I do not see why it is an act early campaign if you are going on a non-working day,” he said.
“You are participating like any citizen in an event of your party. Anyway, I don’t see where the violation of a law would be there,” the secretary emphasized.
Interviewed at the end of an event in Chiapas, Marcelo Ebrard argued that the Mexican electoral process is one of the most regulated in the world.
Therefore, he pointed out that As long as public resources are not used to promote the vote, they are not violating any law.
The INE imposed a preventive guardianship on Morena and militants, including secretaries, governors and legislators, so that they refrain from organizing and participating in events such as those held in the State of Mexico and Coahuila.
