The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, denied having any intention of bringing water from Coahuila to the state he governs. This after the controversy generated when on July 15 he claimed to have found a large source of the vital liquid in an area of the Tragadero Canyon in the Sierra Madre.
The controversy arose because it became known that the area from which he wanted to transfer water resources to Monterrey is part of the neighboring entity. However, the local president used one of his profiles on social networks to clarify the situation, assuring that the water he seeks to bring to the city comes from the part of the Casillas River that is located in the town of Rayones, Nuevo León.
“And I take this opportunity to deny the delusional: El Tragadero is in Rayones. That is why it is called Tragadero de Rayones, NL (Casillas River)”, he said in an Instagram story, after sharing other news related to the current situation in the state due to the water crisis that the population has been facing for months.

In fact, the body of water to which the Citizen Movement activist referred is one of the town’s attractions. According to an official site promoting the El Tragadero tourist corridor, it is located 2 hours from the main square of Rayones, 45 km from Casillas and a short distance from the border with Coahuila. unique spectacle, the springs sprout from the caverns of the mountains in a distance of 150 meters, a flow that downstream forms the Rio Casillas”.
It should be remembered that Ramiro Durán, mayor of Arteaga, a town where Samuel García allegedly planned to obtain water resources, assured that Coahuila will defend its water. The mayor explained that part of the liquid from births in the Coahuila municipality ends up in Rayones, so the governor can order that the remainder that arrives in Nuevo León be taken to Monterrey but that it will not be allowed to extract the resource directly from Arteaga. .
So far Durán has not made any statement regarding the clarification made by the governor, a member of the so-called Orange Movement.

The drought in Mexico has led to a lack of water in several states, including Nuevo León. In this entity, one of the most affected areas has been the metropolitan area, for which Samuel García announced that he is in negotiations with the farmers in areas where there are still water resources so that they give up a part to the citizens who have faced scarcity. .

It was the same day that he announced that he had found a gold “gold mine”, allegedly in Coahuila, when he also mentioned that he was negotiating with the producers of the field in Rayones. Likewise, when he denied the rumor of water coming from the neighboring state, he stated that the National Water Commission (Conagua) carried out an operation at the “El Indomable” ranch, where there were two clandestine dams where they retained liquid that naturally reaches the El Cuchillo dam. . With the operation of the organism, the resource will arrive where it belongs.
Another of the tactics that have been implemented to combat the water crisis is cloud bombardment, which consists of the discharge of silver iodide to facilitate the generation of rain.
