Elche (Alicante, Spain), July 10. Elche’s Argentine striker, Ezequiel Ponce, affirmed this Sunday that for the centenary of the Elche club, which will be celebrated throughout the next season, the team is confident of achieving the goal, alluding to permanence, and in improving the records of the past grade.
The player, in statements to the club’s media, said that he is “happy and content” to be part of Elche, a club that executed the purchase option to take over his services after the transfer by Spartak Moscow in the last market of winter.
“Both my family and I are enjoying the stability I was looking for,” said the Argentine attacker, who thanked being part of “a great club that is growing year after year.”
“This year we start with great enthusiasm to leave Elche as high as possible in the championship”, added the striker, who confessed that he lives in an ideal environment for both him and his family in the city.
Ponce, who signed for Elche until 2026, assured that he faces this new experience in the Spanish competition “with incredible ambition” and warned that Elche has a “very strong” team base in which the group always prevails over above the individual.
He recalled with emotion his debut with Elche, when he scored a few minutes after taking the field against Rayo. “He came from a very long hiatus and it was like entering the club with the right foot,” he explained.
The striker pointed out the key to permanence “the union of the locker room” in the most complicated moments of the season, for which he valued that the club has managed to keep most of the “pieces” of last year.
“The block follows, we know each other and we have a good harmony, so we can take advantage of that as a benefit for the start of the season”, argued the attacker, who asked the next competition “to improve as a group and every day, as we did past year”.
“And that we don’t limit ourselves, because we can all improve and achieve better things. I see a lot of potential and I, from where I have to, contribute and improve my performance to do better than last season”, she concluded. EFE
