There are millions of cats living in Australia and they are a nuisance. They prey on birds, frogs, mice and other rodents. 25 animal species have disappeared from Australian nature as a result.
To prevent more animal species from disappearing, cats in the Australian capital are only allowed outside if they are on a leash. Owners who do not comply with this rule can be fined more than 1000 euros.
