The Peribús increased the frequency of passage required by a average of 300 thousand daily users, which currently moves and with which it became the route with the most passengers.
When it began operations in January of this year, the Peribús transported 140,000 passengers, which soon increased to 240,000. Route 380, which made the circuit of the articulated system, transported 100 thousand passengers.
Due to the rapid increase in demand, three months after its start-up, The Government of Jalisco announced a new investment of 52 million pesos for the Peribús. Through a video on social networks, the governor announced that among the measures they will take will be to acquire more trucks for the three types of routes, that is, trunk, complementary and feeder. “Demand was bigger and grew faster than we would have thought, and that put very significant pressure on the feeders, on the complementary ones and on the trunk lines as well,” he said in March.
Nevertheless, Although efficiency in Periférico has improved, saturation due to lack of units is still pending, users said. “At first it was a mess, it has leveled off, but there are still no trucks because it is saturated. It has improved since it started, but I have to take time to get on it as soon as I arrive or I have to wait a little while to be able to get on,” said Eduardo, who uses it every day.
Aidé agreed, as he pointed out that “they can’t cope.” She has been taking it since service began and, previously, she used route 380.
“I go to my work and it is always super saturated. They pass often, but very full. At the beginning it was more, but they still can’t cope, ”she said.
Gregorio added that, although the service has already improved a lot and is better than the 380, it takes longer.
For his part, Jorge Alberto, who used the 380, stated that the Peribús is worse because “they always come well full.”
