From kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, among other activities can be found in some small towns. On this occasion we will detail the characteristics and attractions that can be found in three regions of the country.
These are at least three Magical Towns, sites rich in history, culture and traditions, but which also promise a climate of adventure, ideal for those who want a different weekend, while being in contact with nature.
Pet
With an unusual name and surrounded by pine or oak trees, the Magic Town of Mascota is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the state of Jalisco. Mountains, forests and rivers embrace this magical place.
In this destination you can visit areas such as the Corrinchis Dam, which offers its El Conejo and El Beso islands. Right at this dam you can start your adventure with a wide variety of activities, such as: walking along the shore of the region, traveling by kayak, sailing or boat, as well as hiking.

In Mascota you will also find a rare combination of culture and nature, where you can visit beautiful sites such as the Archaeological Museum, which houses more than 600 pieces and archaeological remains over 3,000 years old.
It was incorporated into the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2015. Its name (Mascota) comes from Amaxacotlán, Mazacotla, Amaxocotlán which means: place of deer and snakes. In this area of Mexico you can find lodging, ranging from 800 pesos to more than 2 thousand pesos per night.
Zimapan
Located in the largest municipality in the state of Hidalgo, Zimapán is another of the small towns worth visiting at any time of the year, since its climate is temperate or semi-warm, with summer rains and semi-desert vegetation.

It is a region in which extreme outdoor activities can be carried out such as paragliding or visiting the monolith called El Vigilante, which is 15 meters high and is the main attraction of Zimapán, since it was formed naturally and has with an imposing press worthy of admiration.
It entered the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2018. Some of its other attractions are: a 5-star spa, which has been recognized as the best in Latin America. It will be easy to locate, as it was built on the foundations of the King Felipe II Castle.
In this little corner you will have access to accommodation with costs ranging from 700 to more than 1,500 pesos per night.
Batopilas
From the bowels of one of the deepest ravines in the Sierra Madre Occidental, also called Sierra Tarahumara, you can enjoy Batopilas, in Chihuahua, which, according to the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), its name in the Tarahumara language means “River boxed”.

To step on this destination immersed in the Copper Canyon, you will have to take the renowned El Chepe train and get off at the Creel station. Then you will have to travel on one of the most exciting and hair-raising roads that exist in the country, since it presents innumerable sharp curves and dirt roads, but with extraordinary views as you go.
On the site you can consider mountain bike tours, horseback riding and enjoy its beauty from the train, along the road or from a viewpoint. In addition, some of its attractions are: Barrancas del Cobre, Hacienda de San Miguel, scenic road with viewpoints, Church of the Virgen del Carmen, among others.
The railway route is 350 kilometers long, for approximately 15 hours, that is, it starts at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m., although adventurers can spend the night at any of the stops made by El Chepe.
Prices to board it will vary according to the tour you choose. According to the official page of El Chepe ratesin case you buy your ticket from Los Mochis to Creel or from Creel to Los Mochis, you will have the possibility of going down up to three scales as your itinerary allows.
While a night of lodging in Batopilas goes from 850 pesos to more than a thousand pesos per night.
