The Jalisco Ministry of Health inaugurated this Thursday the Center for Child Diabetes Care, located in the El Colli neighborhood in Zapopan.
This center seeks to care for girls and boys with type 1 diabetes mellitus through a model based on education, beyond food prohibitions.
The Secretary of Health, Fernando Petersen, said that currently there is a registry of more than 200 children and the goal is to increase 15 per month.

The official added that a population of two thousand children is estimated, but it will be the nominal registry that determines how many there are and where they are.
“The most important issue of diabetes is learning to live with this disease, so we need to live with it,” he said.
The goal is that all children can receive treatment at this hospital.
“The treatments will be in the health centers, here it will only be orientation, education, classes for parents and psychological support.”
The State Government will support with insulin for the treatment of all sick children. This year there is a budget of 10 million pesos.
