Xavi Simons is close to a loan move from Paris Saint-Germain to PSV. Report that Eindhovens Dagblad and VI Tuesday evening.
Nineteen-year-old Simons only has to pass the medical examination and then sign a lease that binds him to PSV for a season. On Tuesday evening he was spotted in the center of Eindhoven in the company of former goalkeeper Bas Roorda, who currently works as a team manager for PSV.
Simons ended up in FC Barcelona’s youth academy as a seven-year-old in 2010, before moving to PSG in 2019. The midfielder – who can also play as a winger – is the son of former professional Regilio Simons, who played 179 games in the Eredivisie as a striker and was active for Fortuna Sittard and NAC Breda, among others.
The native of Amsterdam has so far played eleven matches in the first team of the French superpower, seven of which in competition. Last season, he missed the decisive penalty in the Coupe de France final, causing PSG to lose the final to OGC Nice. Simons played five international matches for the Orange squad, the last time as captain.
After the arrival of Brazilian attacker Savinho and Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever, it would be the third player to make the switch to PSV on a rental basis this summer.
