The Cardinal of Guadalajara, Francisco Robles Ortegapointed out that there are organized crime checkpoints that operate in some municipalities of Jalisco in the limits with Zacatecas.
During the press conference held this afternoon after Sunday mass, Ortega Oakssaid he was held in the area of Totatiche y Villa Guerrero.
“I went this past week to the north of the state, bordering with Zacatecas precisely and also I was detained by two checkpoints and obviously they are organized crime checkpoints and they require you to say where you come from, where you are going, that is the most normal and natural thing to do,” he said.
He admitted that it is not the first time that he has passed through those directions, so he has taken his precautions.
“Those checkpoints are established there, with thick weapons, with long weapons,” he specified.
According to Cardinal this very week the Bishop of Zacatecas, Sigifredo Noriega Barcelowas also held by a roadblock.
He added that in some places when the patron saint festivities are held They must have authorization from the head of the “plaza”.
He lamented the climate of violence and insecurity that exists throughout the country, which is perceived as increasing.
