US President Joe Biden arrives in Munich to participate in the G7 summit, which has been held in Germany since this Sunday, with the intention of strengthening an alliance against Russia to further isolate it from the global economy.
Just before the NATO summit that begins on Wednesday in Madrid, Emmanuel Macron is also participating in this G7 summit in which, in addition to the war in Ukraine, issues such as food insecurity or climate change will be addressed.
Before the start of this summit, some 6,000 protesters critical of globalization protested in Munich on Saturday against the G7 demanding the elimination of fossil fuels, the protection of the environment, social justice and the fight against hunger. They ask the G7 for more actions to fight climate change.
“I am here because I want to say that what the G7 is planning is not in the interest of the climate, it is not in the interest of the people. Rather they are engaged in war propaganda and integrating other states into their ideologies and their strategies. And that’s what we have to fight against,” said this protester
Greenpeace activists scaled Waxenstein Mountain to install a giant peace sign made of flaming torches calling for an exit from fossil fuels. The three-day summit of the seven most industrialized nations in the world is held from this Sunday at the castle of Elmau, in the Bavarian Alps.
