These pesky semiconductors… In Rennes, the Stellantis factory will still have to stop producing vehicles due to a shortage of these parts essential to the car manufacturer (formerly PSA). Present in the electronic chips of cars, these microscopic transistors are the subject of a worldwide shortage. The Janais factory is no exception and must again interrupt production this Wednesday evening. About 2,000 site employees are on technical unemployment, at least until July 1. “Since the beginning of April, we have been able to get by and work at full speed”, indicates the communication department of the factory.

According to the CFDT, the parts are missing in particular on the car radios. “We adapt: ​​it’s a phenomenon that is beyond our control and which unfortunately we can’t do much about. We have a frank break and we will resume, ”added management.

A training system during the production stoppage must make it possible “to increase people’s skills, not to leave them without activity with loss of wages”, according to the same source.
