Disaster struck last week for a van full of crew and cast members from a new Netflix series. On the way to the airport, the van was involved in an accident. Two actors were killed and six passengers were injured. The shooting of the new Netflix series has logically been stopped. The writer of the series now accuses the streaming service of negligence.
The Chosen One in Mexico
It concerns two actors from The Chosen One, a brand new series from Netflix about a 12-year-old boy who finds out that he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. It is now his destiny to save humanity. The series is based on the comic book series of the same name by Mark Millar, whose work previously came to life on Netflix with Jupiter’s Legacy (2021), and Peter Gross.
bus turned over
The accident happened when some of the cast and crew were moved from Santa Rosalía to the local airport on June 16. The bus crashed and overturned. At first, the victims could not be identified, but soon after, actors Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar were found to have died. For both this would be one of the first major (Netflix) roles. It is unknown who they played in the series.
Relatives demand investigation: ‘This was no ordinary accident’
Raymundo and Juan’s friends and family insist on a thorough investigation into production issues and how they may have played a role in the accident. Writer Rick Zazueta shares a lengthy message on Facebook in which he writes that the cast had previously complained about logistical and transport problems during the production.
This is a plea for justice for these deaths. This was no ordinary accident, the cast had openly complained about the logistical and transportation problems this production faced, calling it illogical, unreasonable, ignorant and stupid. The condition of the van was totally unsuitable for transporting people; worn tires, noisy brakes, loose steering wheel, not all seat belts worked, easily recognizable signs of danger.

Netflix has not yet responded after the accident. The rest of the cast and crew who were injured are currently in stable condition.
