Gérald Darmanin on favorable waivers. No surprise during the first round of legislative elections in the 10th district where the Minister of the Interior and former mayor of Tourcoing had set his sights. He arrives in the lead with 39% of votes in front of the candidate of Nupes, Leslie Mortreux (23%), then that of the RN, Mélanie D’Hont.
Coming from a small antispeciesist and animal protection party, Leslie Mortreux was an unknown. However, it allows the union of the left to qualify for the second round. But the lead of Gérald Darmanin nevertheless seems sufficient to clinch victory. It will therefore be Vincent Ledoux, his deputy who risks sitting in the National Assembly.
“It is a candidacy of the far left”
“We are in the lead in all the municipalities, but we have not yet won”, underlines, on France 3, Gérald Darmanin who refuses to evoke a left-right duel. “It is a candidacy of the far left which does not like the police and not of the united left, advances the minister. Our score shows that environmentalists and socialists voted for us. »
The Republicans’ last-minute candidate, Jérôme Garcia, did not weigh heavily. The entrepreneur had obtained his party’s nomination in extremis after the equally surprising withdrawal of a first candidate. Claudine Hue had preferred to leave the way clear to Gérald Darmanin at the beginning of May, an operation which showed the still vivacious influence of the minister on the regional right, as told the Médiacités news site.
