The second day of the hearing against the former governor of Chihuahua, César Horacio Duarte, was held with recesses due to health problems presented by the former local president, which led to the use of a wheelchair.
César Duarte appeared for the second consecutive day before Judge Humberto Chávez Meléndez around 9:15 am this Saturday, for the crime of aggravated embezzlement and aggravated criminal association. At the hearing, the accused was accompanied by his lawyer Ricardo Antonio Sánchez Reyes.
This Saturday, the Public Ministry (MP) presented the mechanism that the former governor would use to divert more than 96 million 665 thousand 253.80 pesos between the years 2011 to 2014 from the Government of the State of Chihuahua to the companies Unión Ganadera Regional División del Norte del Estado de Chihuahua as well as the Financial Division of the North.
Among the data that stood out during the course of the hearing is the name of Carlos Hermosillo Arteaga, who was placed in a strategic position within the Government of the State of Chihuahua to obtain resources from the treasury. The above was read by the Public Ministry (MP), after a protected witness testified.
In turn, the Public Ministry accused Duarte of diverting resources through the Northern Division Regional Livestock Union in 2012 and 2013, which he apparently requested to support unionized ranchers and producers; however, the resource never reached the supposed beneficiaries.
During the Saturday hearing, the MP fully detailed the diversions that Duarte authorized and the pressures that apparently were exerted by the accused so that said resources would go in favor of the companies Unión Ganadera Regional División del Norte del Estado de Chihuahua as well as to the Financial Division of the North.
