In a survey carried out by this medium in the Historic Center of Guadalajara, interviewed smokers from Guadalajara indicated that they see excessive the measures that could be taken to prevent them from using tobacco in open spaces such as parks, squares, stadiums and any entertainment center. The foregoing, in the face of possible federal measures or decrees by the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The restrictions began already in Mexico City where smoking is prohibited in different spaces of the Historic Center.
Rubén lit his cigarette at the Roundabout of the Illustrious Jaliscienses and said that if a more restrictive norm of smoking in open spaces is decreed, the rights of the people would be violated.
“It violates the rights of the person, because the human qualities of each person are not being accepted and everyone is free to do what they want. If you are not going to be able to do that on the street, then ask ourselves what is going to be able to be done”, he commented.
For his part, Álvaro Cruz, a merchant from the area, pointed out that it’s okay not to bother people with tobacco smokebut just for that there are public places where he tries to get away to smoke.
“In the end, whoever wants to smoke will smoke and if it is in public spaces and they are already restricted, closed places seem fine to me, everyone has the freedom not to be smelling the smoke, which is unpleasant, but I don’t think it has to be limited. of spaces on the street, that’s why they also put ashtrays in the trash cans, people smoke,” he said.
Hugo Pinedo, who is a father of a family and who works in the first square of the City, pointed out that it is very restrictive and that you will no longer really know in which space to smoke.
“Those measures are already exaggerated, and where we are going to be dropped off, or what spaces will be designated to be able to smoke. At home I do not smoke inside to take care of the health of those who are part of it and I can no longer do it anywhere, only at home, ”she limited.
Antonio Villanueva also said that for him Cigarettes are not as harmful as pollutants and believed that there are other factors that pollute more.
“We are outdoors, I think there is more pollution than a cigarette and I think it is wrong, because there are many people who still smoke, we are not in closed spaces, the air flows. There are more cars, those do contaminate us with smog, ”he said.
In addition, Héctor Mora considers that the harms of cigarettes have been known for years both for active and passive smokers and that for him in closed spaces it is excellent that there are these restrictions, because in open spaces it is exaggerated.
“In reality it is a vice that if it destroys, in closed spaces it is perfect. It is restrictive in outdoor spaces for the freedoms of each person, I know that smoking can also harm other people who are close to me. Delimiting spaces away from people is a good way to move forward on that issue, ”she noted.
