Since the beginning of the vehicle verification program Only 1,255 cars that provide service in digital applications (Uber or DiDi) have accredited the test, despite the fact that the Ministry of Transportation has a record of more than 19,000 units in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.
The omission extends to yellow taxis: only 5,795 have passed the test, when there are more than 12,000 in the city.
“My car is good. I was waiting for the fines to come in to pay the verification”, replied Guadalupe Torres, who yesterday was driving a 2011 model Tsuru in obvious poor condition, at the intersection of Periferico and Federalismo.
Being classified as intensive use vehicles, yellow and executive cabs are required to test every six months, but most ignore the state program.
In August of last year, the mandatory application of the program began, with the schedule for the owners to attend the review according to the number of the termination of the plate. However, after the announcement by the Government of Jalisco that the sanctions against omissions will not start next July, the ranks at the verification center on Magisterio Avenue dropped.
“I found out that they will no longer fine next July, but I already had my appointment paid. We must be responsible with our vehicles and with the environment”, recommended Antonio García, who rents a car to offer the DiDi service.
The Government of Jalisco responded through Transparency that in Puerto Vallarta there are also non-compliances of the rental car service providers, since two thousand 938 executive taxis and three thousand 500 yellow ones are pending the procedure.
Last weekend it was confirmed that until the vehicle verification system works in an integral way there will be fines for not carrying out the test, but the state authority clarifies that the program continues to be mandatory. For now, there are breaches by the Government: the state administration promised last year that, before starting with the fines, it would have at least 60 verification lines operating, but there are only 42 installed (plus the mobile line).
