Smulders, who had already started well on Saturday with a first place, had a lesser start in the second game. Only in the last corner did she close the gap with the British, having previously overtaken Sakakibara.
Judy Baauw finished fourth after a nice third place in the first race. Manon Veenstra had to settle for fifth place, after she had finished fourth the day before.
In the standings, 28-year-old Smulders is well ahead of her competitors. The four-time winner of the World Cup (2016 to 2019) was second in the final standings last year.
Men don’t stand out
Just like on Saturday, the Dutch men played no significant role. Dave van der Burg was the best Dutchman with an eighth place. The third and fourth races of the season will be held at Papendal on June 11 and 12.
