Martina Wegman just missed a medal at the European Championship slalom in Liptovsky, Slovakia. The canoeist, who finished seventh in the Olympic final in Tokyo last year, now finished 0.03 of the bronze.
“The final course suited me less well,” said Wegman. “I lost a lot of time in the middle of the race, the rest of the run was great. I’m happy with the result and the feeling I have on the water at the moment.”
The European title went to Italian Stefanie Horn. Slovakian Eliska Mintalova was second and British Mallory Franklin third. The European Championships were the first major event leading up to the OS 2024.
