Add the Roland-Garros tournament and the Ascension Bridge, and it’s a godsend for hoteliers. In this hotel in eastern Paris, the price of a room, for one night, is currently 1,400 euros, against 300 euros usually. The hotel receptionist explains this difference: “It’s a bit like that everywhere in Paris. I think it’s linked to the Champions League. It’s what we call ‘revenue management’, each day has its price depending on the occupancy rate.”
Marc, a supporter of the Liverpool Reds who face Real Madrid on Saturday evening, did well thanks to his anticipation: “We booked our hotel room when we knew that the Champions League final was going to be played in Paris at the beginning of March. We had rather advantageous rates: 125 euros per night. Friends wanted to book a month later when Liverpool qualified for the final. In the same hotel, the night is at 900 euros at the moment against 125 euros a month ago.”
“It’s the same for flights: normally a round trip between Liverpool and Paris costs 240 euros. There we paid 820 euros.”

Saturday, for example, there will be 40,000 spectators at Roland-Garros, 50,000 Liverpool supporters at the Stade de France, not to mention the people of Madrid and tourists who take advantage of the Ascension Bridge. Vanguelis Panayotis is the CEO of the MKG expertise firm: “This weekend, we are breaking all attendance records, he explains. We will certainly end up with more than 90% of attendance rates for hotel establishments. Paris is fulfilled, which had not happened for many months.” Full hotels despite sometimes very high prices. This bodes well, according to professionals in the sector, especially in view of the Olympic Games in 2024.
