At least 25 people died this Saturday in the state of Pernambucoin the northeast of Brazil, due to heavy rains that have affected the region since the beginning of this week, official sources reported.
According to initial reports, at least 19 of the 25 victims died during a landslide in a village in the neighborhood of Ibura, in the southern area of Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco.
The rains also caused flooding in different parts of Recife and its metropolitan region and at least 500 people were evicted throughout the state, according to initial information.
