Sony has announced a new State of Play – showing new PS5 and PS VR2 games – and it’s coming sooner than expected, on Thursday, June 2.
The State of Play lasts just under half an hour and starts at midnight from Thursday 2 to Friday 3 June.
The show promises reveals from Sony’s third-party partners and “a look at the future of some games in development for PlayStation VR2”. It doesn’t sound like massive first-party exclusives are part of the show.

It’s worth noting that Sony distinguishes between State of Play broadcasts which are shorter broadcasts with lots of small announcements – and a PlayStation Showcase event.
The Digital Showcase replaced Sony’s original E3 press conference, where the biggest reveals about upcoming games are made. Sony waited until September for the full Showcase last year, featuring gameplay from God of War: Ragnarok†
