Directors of different regional preparatory schools of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) expressed their feelings in the mega-march in the Historic Center, as they assure that with the recent labeled budget of the State Government they cannot cover their fundamental needs to provide a better education to young people from the outskirts of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.
The resource allocated to the UdeG in terms of educational infrastructure is 340 million pesos. The rector Ricardo Villanueva recently told this medium that they only had 228 million pesos.
Juan Manuel Franco, director of the Etzatlán Regional Preparatory School, pointed out that in this mega-march they ask for better facilities, more classrooms and laboratories.
“Demanding a fair budget from the university for more classrooms, sports facilities and autonomy, once its budget is approved according to the planning, the UdeG has to be the only one to decide what it is spent on. A soccer field is urgent, because sport is key to education,” said the professor.
For his part, Alejandro Rocha, director of the Degollado Regional High School, invited the governor to the regional high schools since he assures that there are many deficiencies.
“I would invite the governor to all the high schools, they will all have shortcomings, the better facilities we have, the better learning environment, we will have a better education for young people, sports fields, gyms, better classrooms,” he stressed.
Also, Christopher Alejandro Velázquez Orozco, coordinator of the module of the High School of the town of Oconahua, points out that In the most remote towns where the UdeG teaches classes, there are many shortages.
“We are one of the most lagging modules in Jalisco, what the rector is currently doing is removing asymmetries and seeking support for the regions, promoting regional schools, in Oconahua we are one of the modules with the most deficiencies, although the module is infrastructure is new, we lack a lot of material that students have the same opportunities as the metropolitan ones, computer laboratories, experimental sciences, as cultural and sports spaces is what we demand and seek with this resource, “he stressed.
