Hogwarts Legacy will get a lot of exclusive features on the PS5, because developer Avalanche Software makes optimal use of the DualSense controller.
Through the Playstation Blog A new trailer was also shown (which you can watch below). Avalanche explains that the DualSense’s adaptive triggers “allows for more flexibility in combat.” The player has “a lot of spells” at their disposal that the developer implies that the trigger can cause different spells to be cast.
The haptic feedback should make each spell feel different and Avalanche has translated the different effects of the spells to the controller. This should make it feel like you have a magic wand in your hand. The same goes for casting spells, players will feel how a Shield Charm bounces or abhors magic.
There are different activities to do in the world† For example, you have to powder ingredients for Potions, pull a Mandrake from a pot or fly on a broomstick. All this will be provided with haptic feedback.
The DualSense’s lighting will change based on the spell you cast or when you take damage. At quiet times, the controller will take over the color of the house in Hogwarts. Blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, red and gold for gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin, and yellow and black for Hufflepuff.
There will also be ambient noise from the controller. Think of the flapping of a Hippogriff’s wings or the sounds of spells.
Finally, trophy hunters in Hogwarts Legacy are helped by the Activity Cards and Game Help features of the PlayStation 5. This gives players quick tips for collecting collectibles or the right tips for certain actions.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in late 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Set way before the Harry Potter movies, players will explore Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and fight a goblin named Ranrok.
