The Jalisco education secretary, Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, reported this Monday that there are already 70 alleged cases of sexual abuse of minors that occurred in Jalisco schools investigated by the educational authorities and the State Prosecutor’s Office.
“We have around 70 cases that have been analyzed, not in all of those there is a confirmed abuse, they are presumed casesand we must remember that these cases are not only handled by the internal control body, but also complaints are filed with the Prosecutor’s Office,” said the secretary of education.
Just last April 26, according to what was reported that day, there were 40 cases of alleged sexual abuse that were being investigated in conjunction with the security unit.
Flores Miramontes asserted that training is already provided on these topics, as well as on other educational ones, and even on laws, so that teachers know the bases to act correctly at all times.
“The best way we have to help them with the certainty that they are doing the right thing in situations of risk are the protocols. The protocols, especially in matters of prevention of sexual abuse and the reactive when an alleged case is already presented, have been taken in most cases to the letter and that is what allows prompt attention to those affected,” said the Secretary of Education Jalisco.
