Early on Monday morning someone was hit by a truck in the harbor of Ridderkerk. The victim died as a result.
The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. What exactly happened is unknown. The police have conducted an investigation on the spot and expect that more information about the exact circumstances may become known during the day.
The fatal collision took place outside the distribution center of Cérélia, a supplier of fresh dough. A spokesperson said they had nothing to do with the incident. “We do not work at night. It is an industrial estate with various companies that rent a building.” When the employees arrived early this morning, they were not allowed to enter the site because of the police investigation. “But we have been working inside again since 6.00 am. We await the investigation.”
