PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Mookie Betts homered, doubled and singled to drive in three runs, along with a shot at the plate that prevented the potential go-ahead run, in the game the Los Angeles Dodgers won Saturday. 7-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Betts, a five-time All-Star and AL MVP in 2018, pretty much did it all with his arm and at the plate to help turn the Dodgers around from a 4-1 downturn. He also received a ticket.
Gavin Lux singled to right field for a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning. Cody Bellinger scored on a wild pitch from Searanthony Dominguez to make it 6-4.
José Alvarado (1-0) allowed two hits to lead off the eighth inning and took the loss. Daniel Hudson (2-3) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and got the win. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save.
Austin Barnes hit his fourth home run of the year in the ninth to give them a 7-4 lead.
For the Phillies, Jean Segura 4-1 with an RBI. The Venezuelan Odúbel Herrera 3-1.
