There is a sequel to the gripping action thriller Law Abiding Citizen (2009). Village Roadshow and Rivulet Films have announced this. Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx played the lead roles in the 2009 film. It is not yet known whether the two will return for the new film. Butler will produce the project.
Law Abiding Citizen is directed by F. Gary Gray and centers on Nick Rice, an assistant district attorney who finds himself caught up in Clyde Shelton’s revenge plot. Shelton is a criminal mastermind completely traumatized by the justice system and wielding a lot of power over all of Philadelphia from prison.
The film grossed more than $130 million and was a hit again last year, when it was temporarily shown on Netflix. At the moment you can watch the film via Pathé Thuis.
Butler will therefore produce the new project, which he will do together with the likes of Alan Siegel and Lucas Foster. Foster is one of the producers of the original film. The original screenwriter, Kurt Wimmer, will also collaborate on the sequel.
