US President Joe Biden ratified this Saturday the new legislative package of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth 40 billion dollars to support kyiv in the face of the war triggered by the Russian invasion of the country.
The White House said in a statement that Biden affixed his signature from South Koreawhere he is on an official trip, with which the legislation takes effect immediately.
The new package is based on sending more weapons and ammunition to Ukrainealthough also includes direct economic assistance and humanitarian aidsuch as food delivery.
Biden’s signature comes after the US Senate approved this week with broad support, as did the House of Representatives previously, the new aid to kyiv.
The approval of these 40 billion dollars comes at the end of the 13.6 billion aid package approved by the US Congress in March, shortly after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Precisely, the State Department announced on Wednesday the shipment of the last 100 million dollars of that package, destined for artillery and radar.
