Ocean’s Eleven (2001) is getting a prequel. A new heist movie is in the works starring none other than Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie. Hopefully the film will do better than the disappointing Ocean’s 8 (2018) with Sandra Bullock.
The prequel is expected to be set in 1960s Europe. There is no title yet, but since it is a prequel it will probably be a variation on Ocean’s Eleven, perhaps Ocean’s Ten or a lower number because the new film is set set way before the time of Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
Jay Roach has been roped in to direct, who previously worked with Robbie on Bombshell (2019). Although the prequel has not yet been officially green-lighted, production could start in the spring of 2023 if everything goes according to plan. However, this still needs some puzzling, as Robbie is also busy with Barbie (2023), which will be released in July 2023.
The Oscar-nominated actress from I, Tonya (2017) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) will also produce the film. More details are unknown at the moment. All Ocean’s movies, with the exception of Ocean’s 8, are now available to watch on both Netflix and HBO Max. For the film with Sandra Bullock you can only go to Pathé Thuis.
