This Tuesday, Spain will consider a law that could introduce menstrual leave. If for the moment, the contours of this legislative text on sexual health remain unclear, they should be clarified. According to Spanish media having had access to a provisional version of the bill, drawn up by the Ministry of Equality, the duration of this leave would be three days, with the possibility of extending it by two additional days in the event of acute symptoms. , on the basis of a medical certificate.
Other countries have already implemented it
It would be a first in Europe if our Iberian neighbor introduced this novelty. But not in the world. Indeed, several countries have introduced in their legislation in recent years a right to “menstrual leave”, particularly in Asia. In France, menstrual leave does not appear in the law or in collective agreements. But some companies are testing it.
