Childhood Hepatitis: They Study Suspected Cases in Five More States of Mexico

Some of these children have received a liver transplant and others have died as a result of the disease.

Cases have been reported in 20 countries and another 13 countries have suspected cases.

San Luis Potosi

Daniel Acosta Díaz de León, state Secretary of Health, reported that in San Luis Potosí a five-year-old minor, originally from Ciudad Valles, is under suspicion of childhood hepatitis.

The Secretary of Health said he did not know the date on which the minor began with symptoms; however, he specified that during his admission to the Ciudad Valles General Hospital, the patient presented symptoms of intestinal pain and signs of hepatic inflammation.

Tamaulipas

Last Friday, the Tamaulipas Ministry of Health announced that there is a suspicious case of Acute Hepatitis in a young man in the capital city, so he is already under observation and there is epidemiological surveillance in the state.

Gloria Molina Gamboa, Secretary of Health of the state announced that it is a 14-year-old boy from Ciudad Victoria, who presented symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, mainly general malaise.
