From January to April, according to the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar), the profits of the Afore accumulated a total of 695 million 850 thousand pesos, a drop of 84.5% compared to the same period in 2021 in nominal terms.
The profits of the ten Afores that operate in Mexico continue to reflect the impact of the cap imposed on the commissions charged to workers, in a scenario that is also rarefied by the volatility that prevails in the markets.
The Afore register negative numbers
According to Consar data, three Afore register negative numbers. In the case of Afore Azteca, at the end of last April, its profit presented a loss of 43 million 990 thousand pesos. For its part, Invercap recorded losses of 152 million pesos and Afore Principal posted a loss of 136 million pesos.
As of January of this year, the ten Afores that operate in Mexico cannot charge more than 0.57% of the balance for managing the retirement savings of the more than 70 million workers registered in the Savings System for the Withdrawal (SAR).
For their part, the administrators that registered profits were Afore XXI Banorte, with profits of 274 million 533 thousand pesos, a fall of 75.6% in nominal terms compared to the same month of 2021. It is followed by SURA, with profits of 151 million 882 thousand pesos; a drop of 78% in annual figures.
Meanwhile, Pension ISSSTE presents a drop of just 2% in its profits in annual figures, with a total of 343 million 525 thousand pesos. In the case of Citibanamex, it registered a decrease of 89.3% in its profits, with a total of 98 million 257 thousand pesos.
