After numerous failed attempts to evacuate the wounded from the Azovstal plant in the port city of Mariupol, it seems that both sides have reached an agreement. This is what the Russian Defense Ministry claims. In a statement, it says that “as a result of negotiations with representatives of the besieged Ukrainian Army on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant, an agreement has been reached on the evacuation of the wounded.” The note does not specify the number of evacuees.
For its part, the Azov Regiment has said on social media: “In order to save lives, the entire Mariupol garrison is implementing the decision approved by the Supreme Military Command and expects the support of the Ukrainian people.”
