Netflix just shared the second teaser trailer of horror series Resident Evil (2022). The series is based on the game of the same name, which has been at the top of the sales lists for years.
Resident Evil is set in 2036. 14 years after Joy, an antidepressant intended to make humans better, caused so much pain. Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by bloodthirsty infected creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her New Raccoon City past. This is due to her father’s horrifying connections to the sinister Umbrella Corporation, but mostly because of what happened to her sister, Billie.
The story takes place over two timelines. The first follows 14-year-old Jade and Billie as they move to New Raccoon City. They come to realize that their father is hiding dark secrets that could destroy the world. The second timeline takes place a decade into the future, where there are only 15 million people left with more than 6 billion animals and people infected with the T virus. We follow Jade, now thirty, in her efforts to survive in this world.
However, this isn’t the first time Resident Evil has appeared on screen. Last year, Netflix released the animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021). Paul WS Anderson also directed the film series Resident Evil (2002) starring his wife Milla Jovovich.
Resident Evil will be available on Netflix from July 14. For a complete overview of all new movies and series that will soon be released on the streaming service, you can visit our Coming Soon page on Netflix
