This morning riot police clashed with garbage collectors from the Matatlán and Los Laureles dumps in the Plaza de Armas, in the Historic Center of Guadalajara.
People were arrested in the incident, but the Police have not yet confirmed the number of arrests.
The scavengers ask that the Jalisco State Human Rights Commission (CEDHJ) attend to them.
From May 5, Scavengers maintain a sit-in outside the Government Palace after the closure of the garbage dumps, because they ask that they be guaranteed that they will be able to continue working.
“They began to lock up small groups and they are the ones they have detained, many are beaten. We only come to be listened to, we come to ask for work and they want to remove the dumpsters from us, we come to be listened to,” said Patricia Ramírez, a of the protesters.
In the images recorded by this means of communication, it is observed when at least 10 people are detained and guarded by state police.
