The Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, estimated that Mexico’s economic growth will be at least 2.5%. above the consensus of analysts and will begin to be reflected in the second and third quarters of 2022.
In the press conference “morning” of the president Andres Manuel Lopez ObradorRamírez de la O was questioned about the expectation of economic growth with rising inflation.
“Economic growth has all the room to continue as long as we don’t have another invader like COVID, then growth is going to continue”.
He pointed out that the 1.6% growth rate we saw in the first quarter surprised analystswho expected a much lower rate.
“This rate that was revealed in the first quarter still has a weight at the beginning of the year of the impact of COVID, right now we are already seeing the beginning of the second quarter, the activity is already much stronger, we are in line to at least get ahead of what the consensus expected”.
“Right now, in the pure rate of the first quarter that is penalized, it already gives us 2.5% growthbut it’s going to get better in the second trimester and the third,” he said.
