To extend agreements between companies and the State Water Commission (CEA) that allow the delivery of treated water from the El Ahogado plant to industries located in El Salto and Tlajomulco, the Jalisco Congress is analyzing an initiative sent by the governor.
The proposal raises extend to 2030 the contracts between six companies, the CEA and the Intermunicipal System of Potable Water and Sewage Services (Siapa) with the municipalities of El Salto and Tlajomulco.
The companies they would invest 122 million 563 thousand pesoss to build a sump and the network of pipes to distribute the treated water for its second use in industrial processes. in return they will receive payment with volume of treated water.
Deputy Claudia Salas, president of the Finance Commission, which is in charge of analyzing the initiative, stated that The water reuse program will help reduce the overexploitation of the Toluquilla aquifer.
“The agreements began a couple of years ago, but they have been without operation and these works are just going to start. This will allow the domestic use of water to be more for the city and for businessmen to have second-use water, at a lower cost, for the investment they are going to make, they will also be paid with volumes of treated water,” he explained. the legislator.
The rate established in the agreements is 8.30 pesos per cubic meter (m3) of reused water. The cost of first-use water that companies pay to the National Water Commission (Conagua) is around 22.40 pesos per m3, so accessing this agreement represents savings of 14 pesos per liter.
According to the project, 12.20 kilometers (km) of the distribution network are located in El Salto and another 4.17 km would be located in Tlajomulco. The largest investment will be made in the carcass, which would imply 35 million pesos that will be covered by the businessmen.
The agreements that will be extended are with the companies Empaques Modernos de Guadalajara, Mexichem Derivados, Quimi-Kao, Regal Beloit de Guadalajara, Envases Universales de México and Alen del Norte.
