Number of mortgage applications falls after record quarter, interest rates continue to rise

Homeowners applied for 54,000 mortgages in April, according to data collector HDN. That is 16 percent less than in the three months before, when a record number of mortgages were applied for. On Monday it also became clear that mortgage interest rates have risen further in the past week.
