Environment: This is how the sanctions were for those who commit ecocide in Jalisco

The reform that included the crime of ecocide in the state Penal Code entered into force. The modification with which Penalties of three to ten years in prison are established for anyone who causes damage or the destruction of one or more ecosystems.

It is considered ecocide if the damage covers at least ten hectares, it is classified as lasting damage when the damage and its impacts last for at least four months, and it will be classified as serious damage when the alteration puts people’s health at risk or generates irreparable damage to natural resources.

It also includes economic sanctions: the maximum fine amounts to four million pesos, with the specification that the proceeds be used for actions to repair environmental damage. There are sanctions for public servants who by action or omission allow this type of conduct.

On the other hand, the decrees to initiate the processes of extinction of the Decentralized Public Bodies of the Metropolitan Park of Guadalajara and that of the Parque de la Solidaridad were published in the Official Newspaper.

The employees of both agencies will be dismissed, as approved, they will be paid according to what corresponds to each worker, in terms of the provisions of the Law for Public Servants of the State.
