Andrew Garfield is ready for a break. The actor is putting his acting work down for the time being, he told Variety in an interview. Garfield has worked on numerous major projects over the past year, including The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021), Tick, Tick… Boom (2021) and Under the Banner of Heaven (2022– ).
The latter series has just appeared in the US, but cannot be seen here in the Netherlands yet. In Under the Banner of Heaven, Garfield plays a Mormon detective who investigates the brutal murder of a mother and her daughter. The two were killed by fundamentalist followers of a small church community. The series is a film adaptation of the book by Jon Krakauer.
An exciting project to end an impressive year of acting. And now it’s time for some rest, according to the actor. He expressed that he needs some time to himself, where he can figure out who he is and what he wants. But he also wants to do nothing.
I need to go back to basics for a bit and rethink what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of an ordinary person for a while. Because as you know prize season is always crazy. I just want to be completely invisible for a while. I have to take care of myself so that afterwards I have something to offer again.
