The rector of the University of Guadalajara, Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí, demanded an immediate response from the governor of Jalisco in the face of the cases of gender violence that were reported in the academic institution this week.
“I regret that before we had started the meeting, the governor was not present and declared that the matter is being politicized. And I say yes, the University of Guadalajara is politicizing this issue, how can we not politicize the fact that students are afraid to go to school?we have detected that there is a campaign to generate panic and false information, there are those who want to create fear and want to do harm on social networks, “said Villanueva.
The rector of the UdeG explained that the state and security authorities must do their job to take care of the university community.
“With a student who is afraid to go to school, it seems to me enough reason for us to be here together, and it seems to me enough reason for us to politicize this, because the governor and all the municipal and security authorities are not doing their job” .

Villanueva Lomelí emphasized that the UdeG will continue to demand security from state authorities.
“I am very proud to politicize just causes, and the UdeG will continue to make displays, whatever it costs, and bother whoever they bother. The governor should be here to listen to the university community of more than 320,000 young people who are afraid to go to school. If the governor has other more important things to do than sit down to talk and listen to the university community, I would like to know them”.
