Feyenoord will have to do without Jens Toornstra in the next crucial weeks. The captain of the Rotterdam club is sidelined with an ankle injury.
The midfielder sustained the injury on Thursday in the away game against Slavia Prague (1-3), in which Feyenoord qualified for the semifinals of the Conference League. Toornstra is “in any case not available for the coming weeks”, Feyenoord reports today.
This means that Toornstra must in any case miss the first leg against Olympique Marseille on April 28 in the semifinals of the Conference League. The return on May 5 in France could also come too early for the four-time Orange international.
