Starting yesterday and until next Friday, April 8, gasoline consumers on the northern border of the country will be left without a subsidy.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) announced through the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) that the fiscal stimulus granted through the special tax on production and services (IEPS), in the border area will be zero pesos. That is to say that the share of the tax they pay for loading gasoline will be borne by motorists.
It includes consumers from several municipalities in six northern states that are within the 20-kilometer border strip and the territory between the parallel lines of more than 20 and up to 45 kilometers to the international dividing line with the United States of America.
there is a shortage
Although the SHCP did not explain the reason why it suspended the tax incentive for gasoline consumers in the northern border area, it mentioned that because the cost of fuel in the United States is higher compared to what is sold In our territory, North American citizens are crossing the border to stock up in Mexico.
He even noted that Even with the temporary update of the stimuli for gasoline at the borders, on average, prices in Mexico continue to be lower than in the United States.
