Following the governor’s message on social networks in which he signed the financing agreement for the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), the rector general, Ricardo Villanueva, stated that the increase is relative, because even so you will receive less budget.
“What is being signed today is a tripartite agreement, one of the worst budgets in the history of the University”
“It is the same story that we have heard a thousand times, simply remember that the 52-48 relationship is not what (the agreement) marks. Jalisco has always given more than 48 percent but what I have said is that they are relative. Inflation was 7% the previous year, Jalisco received more than 10% growth and the University only gets 3.5“, he claimed.
He affirmed that the demographic indices should “weigh more in the budget”, for a few months, the rector assured that in 10 years it will be the highest peak in the number of young people of high school age, so the growth of high schools and universities.
He stressed that, for the budget, the point of reference should be inflation, but he also asked the Executive for consistency.
“Jalisco received 10% in growth from the federal government and has said that this is not enough, it has questioned the federal government and it was 10, I ask the state government for consistency, they only gave us 3.5, if they say that 10% was bad, how can they say that what was given to the UdeG is a good budget?”
He added that it is just a communication strategyWell, “it’s an ordinary signature and we’re late,” since it’s been a month and a half of the year and they still haven’t received the federal money because the Executive “didn’t want to sign that agreement.”
“It is the first time that they send us the agreement with the government secretary to our office. What I hope is that we don’t start receiving regular subsidy checks as it has already happened to show that it is coming. What is being signed today is a tripartite agreement, one of the worst budgets in the history of the University in recent decades”, he said.
And he added that “making a video to festinate this bad budget and the blow they gave us last year of 140 million pesos that has not been resolved, seems to me a communication strategy that we have already seen in the difficult moments of the relationship between the state and the university.
