The second round of the men’s giant of the Winter Olympics was postponed to 3:00 p.m. local time (07:00 GMT) due to heavy snowfall that limited visibility, the International Ski Federation announced.
The 30 skiers who made it through the first heat, led by Swiss favorite Marco Odermatt, were initially due to launch at 1:45 p.m. local time (05:45 GMT).
But heavy snow at the Yanqing site made the morning test particularly strenuous, so it was postponed for an hour and a quarter.
“I felt terribly bad throughout and I think it was like that for all the athletes today,” said Frenchman Thibaut Favrot, who finished fifth in the first heat.
“It’s a difficult course, you can’t see anything, it’s snowing,” added Favrot.
